Periodically changing your oil keeps your engine running smoothly and it also keeps your vehicle warranty valid. So if it's been more than six months since your last Ford oil change, then it's probably time to have it done. Let's take a look at how often you should change your oil and the top reasons for keeping your motor oil fresh. Never Leave It Longer Than 7,500 Miles In the past, it was often recommended to have your oil changed every 3,000 miles. But with modern Ford vehicles and the durability of modern synthetic oil, there's really no need to have motor oil changed quite so often. These days, you should have your oil changed every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, which usually works out to every six months. This coincides nicely with the recommended intervals for having your tires changed and brakes serviced. Keep Your Warranty Valid Most drivers gain peace of mind from their vehicle warranty. If this is the case for you, then keeping your warranty valid is a very good reason to regularly change your oil. Be sure to check the requirements laid out in both your owner manual and warranty, and stick to the recommended schedule, always using a type of oil approved by Ford. Maintain Good Performance Your motor oil serves to lubricate the mechanical parts of your engine, ensuring that the valves, pistons, camshaft, and other parts all work together smoothly. By minimizing friction, motor oil also keeps the engine from overheating. But over time, motor oil begins to deteriorate and fill with tiny bits of debris, eventually becoming a sludge that can no longer properly lubricate and disperse heat. This is why frequent oil changes are so important for maintaining good engine performance. Keep Your Engine Clean Various additives in modern motor oil, such as detergents and dispersants, gather up dirt and contaminants in the engine and sweep it along to the fuel filter. During an oil change, this filter is replaced. If it isn't replaced, the collected debris and grime in a clogged up fuel filter is forced back into the circulation of oil through the engine. This is another important reason to get your oil changed without fail. Save on Costly Repairs Eventually, deteriorating motor oil is no longer able to serve its essential functions. When this happens, your engine will begin to overheat, often causing it to blow a gasket. When a gasket blows, you'll see white smoke in your exhaust and you'll no longer be able to drive your car. And a blown gasket is usually a very expensive repair job. Avoid Complete Engine Failure As the heat in a poorly-oiled engine rises, if the gasket doesn't blow, then parts within the engine will start to warp and seize up. This is a disaster. A seized-up engine can rarely be fixed and needs instead to be replaced: an operation so costly that it's often cheaper to buy a new car. Get your oil changed today at Koons Woodbridge Ford and avoid all of these potential problems. We're one of the region's most trusted dealerships, providing a local one-stop shop for all things Ford. A weekend camping is a great way to reconnect with nature and explore the great outdoors. If you live near Woodbridge, VA, you'll find there are lots of great spots to discover, so we've made this list to help you find the perfect outdoor destination for your next vacation. 1. Leesylvania State Park Situated to the south of Woodbridge, on the banks of the picturesque Potomac River, Leesylvania State Park is a great place to combine history and nature. The area was once visited by Captain John Smith in 1608, while today the area is covered by lush woodland and is an excellent place for fishing, hiking, or boating. It's also a great spot to stop and relax for a picnic by the water after a long day of recreation. The park only has space for tent camping, with a private, primitive campground that can be rented by groups. There are also four tent sites available that can only be reached by water, making it the perfect place for an overnight stopover for those arriving by kayak or canoe. All campsites need to be reserved in advance by contacting the park office by phone or email. 2. Pohick Bay Campground An excellent spot for a family camping adventure, with a waterpark near the campground where kids will love a day of sliding and splashing, while everyone will enjoy heading out onto the bay with a kayak or stand-up paddleboard, which can be rented from the campground. There's also a public boat ramp that those with their own boat can launch from, and picnic shelters that can be reserved in advance or on the day. The park campground is designed with families in mind and has over 150 shady sites to choose from, of which 100 have full 30 or 50 amp electrical hookups, while the remainder are non-electric tent sites. Most of the sites include a grill, fire ring, and a picnic table, and are close to the campground facilities, which include a camp store with groceries and camping supplies, and a bathhouse with hot showers, flushing toilets, sinks, and a laundry. 3. Prince William Forest Park This oasis of quiet and calm to the southwest of Woodbridge is the perfect place for outdoor recreation, with endless opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and more. The forest park is also a great spot for wildlife watching, with numerous unusual species found in the park, which also acts as an important refuge area. The forest park has a huge area that includes lots of camping options across its four separate tent and RV camps. There are also several areas for cabin camping if you miss the comforts of home. Three of the campsites are front-country, with access to modern amenities, while one is a more primitive back-country site. You'll probably be charged an entrance fee for the campsites on top of the one to enter the park. If you've got the outdoors bug after reading this list, you'll need a high-quality car to get you there. This engine brake also decreases the use of your traditional brakes, helping you avoid brake fade, excessive brake wear and lowering your overall maintenance cost over time. The engine-exhaust brake comes with three settings: on, off, and auto. You can also upgrade for a wireless charging pad or a Dual-Headrest Rear Seat Entertainment System that lets your backseat passengers enjoy video during long drives. Supreme Safety The Expedition Max has an array of safety features that keep you and your family safe on the road. The Rear View Camera, Reverse Sensing System, Dual-stage front airbags, SOS Post-Crash Alert System, and Side-Impact Airbags are standard on all models. You can also opt for a Perimeter alarm and the Remote Keyless Entry System for added security and convenience.
