Campbell’s Frozen Custard

Find this delicious spot at 4125 Merchant Plaza, in the Merchant Plaza on the first floor. They’re open from noon every day. They close at 9PM on Mondays and Tuesdays, at 9:30PM on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and at 10PM on Fridays and Saturdays. If you’ve never had frozen custard before, be warned: it will ruin you for all other frozen treats from here on out. Custard is made the way icy treats used to be made, with egg yolks, lots of milk fat, and a smaller overrun so the texture is creamier. As a result, you’re satisfied with less.

Campbell’s has a different flavor of the day every day, like mint Oreo, Cocoa Krispies, and lots more. They have cups and cones, waffle cones and bowls, and also offer sundaes, shakes, and malts. Their “scramble” is four or five scoops with all the toppings you want blended in. They also have banana splits, strawberry shortcake, an awesome brownie delight, and their fantastic cashew caramel supreme, which is three scoops of vanilla with cashews, whipped cream, and hot caramel sauce.

La Neveria Michoacana

So, maybe you want to skip the milk fat but double or triple the sugar content: that’s when you want La Neveria Michoacana. Is it healthy? Not even remotely. Is it delicious? Absolutely! You’ll find this place for icy treats at 14420 Jefferson Davis Hwy, and they are open from 11AM until 9PM daily.

What you’re getting here is basically popsicles and other icy, not creamy, flavors. If you have someone in your group who is dairy intolerant, this is a great place to stop for sherbert-style offerings.
