The sixth-generation Ford Mustang continues the iconic legacy started during the 1960s with the original pony car. New for the 2021 model year is the return of the famous Mach 1 name, which features unique badging and its extensive Mach 1 Handling Package. This generation’s Mustang also continues with its versatile engine lineup and surprising practicality. Take a look at the thrilling 2021 Ford Mustang.

Basics About the 2021 Ford Mustang:

Powertrain Choices

Whether you want to use your Mustang as a sporty everyday commuter or as a weekend track beast, its engine options have you covered. The EcoBoost and EcoBoost Premium models are powered by a turbocharged 2.3L inline-four engine that’s more economical but still manages an impressive 310 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. Long-time enthusiasts will want to look into the 5.0L V8 of the GT models that delivers a whopping 460 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque.
Fans will also be pleased to hear that these exciting engines can still be paired with a traditional 6-speed manual transmission that features rev-matching. There’s also Ford’s newly developed 10-speed SelectShift Automatic Transmission as an option for the quickest possible shifting.

High-Performance Chassis

A look at the chassis specs will reveal that the Mustang is more refined than ever. This latest generation now features independent integral-link rear suspension, which results in a smoother ride and improved cornering ability. The front suspension is comprised of a double-ball-joint MacPherson strut with a stabilizer bar.
Its shock absorbers can be equipped with the computer-controlled MagneRide damping system that uses a magnetized fluid to make handling more dynamic and enjoyable. Powerful 4-wheel disc brakes provide plenty of stopping power. Those choosing the EcoBoost and GT models will want to look into the Handling Package, which includes Pirelli Corsa4 tires, 19-inch aluminum wheels, and the 3.55 TORSEN limited-slip rear-axle.

All-New Mach 1

2021 is the model year that marks the return of the legendary Mach 1 after a lengthy hiatus. Focusing on pure performance and more even more powerful than the GT, this model puts out 480 horsepower. Its Mach 1 Handling Package sports a unique front bumper, adjustable strut top mounts, blade decklid spoiler, larger tires, and more powerful six-piston Brembo brakes.
Inside the Mach 1, you’ll find aggressive RECARO Cloth Sport Seats designed for extra support during hard driving. On the dashboard is a unique badge engraved with the Mach 1 logo and a chassis number exclusive to the model.

Cool and Functional Interior

The Mustang’s spacious interior is modern, yet features many classic design cues from the original cars like its circular instrument panel and gauges. Heated and cooled front seats and dual-zone automatic climate control are available creature comforts. For such a sporty car, there’s a surprising amount of cargo space at 13.5 cubic feet in the trunk for Fastback models and 11.4 cubic feet for Convertible models.

There’s also plenty of tech available with the optional SYNC 3 infotainment system that features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity. Ford’s Co-Pilot360 system comes standard and features available driver assists such as lane-keeping assist, forward collision alert with automatic braking, rear-cross traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring.

The Ford Mustang’s evolution has been impressive and it retains its status as the top pony car to get. Featuring more power and better handling than ever before, the car never fails to deliver an exciting driving experience. Schedule your test drive with Koons Woodbridge Ford today!
