If your idea of a nice day out with the family is to load up the kids in your Ford Explorer and do some, well, exploring, then some of the best museums in our area are just waiting for you. Stop by one of these next time you’re around Woodbridge, VA.

Rippon Lodge Historic Site
This is a great place to bring the family and spend some time in a historic spot that’s very well-kept. Wander the grounds on your own or get your tour guide to tell you all the interesting history behind this spot. The grounds are open from dawn to dusk, and tours are just $5 and free for kids under six.
The Rippon Lodge is one of the oldest homes in the county and was built by Richard Blackburn on the King’s Highway in 1747. Goods from the farm were exported to England until the Revolutionary War. Various owners had the house after Blackburn, and all took good care of it, until the last private owner–Admiral Richard Blackburn Black–bought it back into the family in 1952 (he was a direct descendent of the builder). Admiral Black was a lover of history and science and was one of the members of Admiral Richard Byrd’s expedition to the Antarctic.
Mill House Museum
At 413 Mil St in the Occoquan Historic District, the Mill House Museum is open only on the weekends, from 11am until 4pm. It’s one of the few things left from a historic fire that took much of the rest of the area that was famous for its mills throughout colonial times. In 1755, Occoquan was already known as a major industrial town with many mills, and the Merchant’s Mill was built in 1759. It was one of America’s first fully automated grist mills.
You would never know it today, but Occoquan through the 1700s and 1800s was nothing short of the “Silicon Valley” of early American industry. At the same time, it never lost its connection to nature, so that in the late nineteenth century, excursion boats regularly brought sightseers from Washington DC to enjoy the countryside and relief from city life.
The Weems-Botts Museum
Head south to Dumfries to investigate this museum at 3944 Cameron St in Merchant Park. Dumfries is the oldest chartered town in the state, and the museum is dedicated to preserving the town’s heritage.
The museum takes you through the timeline of Dumfries to see homes and their stylings from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. It also covers the part Dumfries played in the history of Virginia along the way. The staff here are great, and you’ll have a blast as you learn.

Is Your Ford’s Car AC Not Working?
For a comfortable driving environment, your Ford’s car AC should be in perfect condition. It regulates humidity, cleans, and cools the air. Car AC not working can make your rides really unpleasant, especially during extreme heat conditions. Here are signs that tell you it’s time to visit your trusted Ford dealer for an AC repair.

1. Weird Sounds
If you start hearing rattling or squealing noises when you turn on the AC, you should be concerned. The diagnosis could be a worn-out compressor, a broken fan belt, or a condenser. Also, there may be debris stuck in the AC fan. It only takes an expert to determine the root cause of the problem and offer long-lasting solutions.
2. Bad Smell
There are numerous kinds of odors you’ll smell from your car, and none of them should be ignored. You may smell rubber, rotten eggs, or something sweet or burning. If you start smelling something musty from the vents when the AC is on, it may be some mold build-up. Moisture is naturally collected on the AC evaporator, and it may be harboring mold.
Running the fan at high speed while the AC is off may help dry off the evaporator and clear the smell. However, that isn’t a guarantee that the problem won’t repeat itself, especially if there’s a clog in the drain tube. Visit your dealership for solutions.
3. No Cold Air
This is one of the most obvious signs of a failed air conditioner. If your AC no longer produces cold air like it used to, there’s a high probability that the ventilation fan is faulty or some hoses are loose. Your refrigerant may also require a top-up. Check the reservoir regularly to ensure the levels are high enough to maintain the normal cooling process.
4. Weak Airflow
If you notice that suddenly your AC’s airflow is dull or non-existent, there’s a problem somewhere. The most common reasons for this may be a clogged-up cabin filter, faulty blower motor, or resistor.
5. Water on the Floorboard
A well-performing AC system drains water away from your vehicle. If you see water under your dashboard or your floor mats, it’s time to contact your dealer. There may be a hose crack or air conditioner leakage causing the water issue. A clogged drainage system could also be to blame, and if not fixed early enough, it could lead to mold or mildew accumulation.
Do not let that problematic air conditioner spoil your mood every day. Visit Koons Woodbridge Ford today. We have factory-trained mechanics who will diagnose and repair your AC or whatever issues your Ford may have as soon as possible.

They are open from 11:30 AM until 9:30 PM every day of the week. This place has really good teriyaki, excellent beef, and a spotless kitchen where you can see what they’re doing and feel confident that everything is being prepared carefully.
We just love their fried lime wontons and the aged tofu. The Japanese teriyaki is always on point, and the salmon is particularly nice. All of their fried rice choices are good, and they also have a great chicken rice noodle dish that really hits the spot. We also suggest you try one of their signature dishes, such as the Mongolian Twin, which is sliced chicken breast and beef stir-fried with onions, or the Triple Treats Broccoli, which is chicken, shrimp, and beef stir-fried with broccoli.

The beef and chicken teriyaki are delicious, and we enjoy all of their sushi and sashimi offerings. The yellowtail is really good, and we are always big fans of the tuna sushi. Don’t forget to stop in at lunchtime to pick up some really great deals.
Dok Khao Thai
Can’t recommend the spot enough. You’ll find them at 15200 Potomac Towne Pl, in Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center. The staff here are great, and the food is amazingly delicious. A few of our recommendations are the Crispy Duck Basil, the red curry salmon, and the spicy tilapia in mango sauce. The “Lamb in Two Seaon” is a delicious dish of sautéed lamb with chili paste, basil, coconut milk, bell pepper, and special garlic sauce served with steamed broccoli.
